Here you'll find exclusive activities offered by the hacienda, which are not included in our Passport to Adventure package, but that, for an extra cost, you can definitely enjoy! Due to their logistics and to guarantee their operation, these activities must be reserved in advance at the moment of confirming your reservation (72 hours in advance).
Temazcal ceremony
Temazcal means "house of hot stones." Tlazolteotl is Mother Earth and is considered the goddess of the temazcal. She is believed to devour what no longer serves us and transforms it into fertile land which creates new life. Inside the temazcal, which is the belly of the earth, the steam makes us sweat, and hence releasing toxins from our body. The temazcal will devour the toxins, absorb them, and will transform them into new energy, ready to nourish new life. The purification of our being within the temazcal goes beyond the physical. The spirit also undergoes a detoxification through the words we speak and the negative thoughts that we eliminate. The temazcal will devour destructive thoughts and emotions to transform them into fertile soil, which will allow us to live our own rebirth.
Massages
Relaxing, decontracting or with volcanic stones, enjoy the different options that we offer focused on producing physical, mental and emotional well-being by relaxing and toning the muscular system. Massages work previous reservation.
Horse ride to the Owl's cave
This horse ride crosses the south western slopes of the Rumiñahui Volcano through the exclusive trails of the Hacienda. A wonderful path will lead us to Chusigmachai, home of the Great Horned Owl, a seasonal resident of the cave, which we´ll be able to observe if we are very lucky and stealthy. In the cave we can also see several hummingbird's nests. This cave is a geological formation protected from wind and rain, and which has served as a refuge for various animals.
Feeding the cattle
Enjoy one of the most unique and authentic experiences that Hacienda El Porvenir can offer you. Come to know the origin of the Chagra (Ecuadorian Cowboy) culture, the proper management of fighting bulls and their origins in Ecuador and in the Cotopaxi area. Come to a close but safe encounter with the cattle, where you can learn from these beautiful animals and see our experienced guides give salt to them (they love salt and it's a fundamental part of their nutrition).
